Was hoping to talk and get advice from a friend tonight, but she canceled on our plans. I met a guy 2.5 years ago, he lives in Europe….Im an expat in Mexico. I wouldn’t say it’s a relationship, as I haven’t let it get that far, I do really care a lot about him tho. It seems I cant win with him, he gets upset with me  about everything….like if I don’t give him a hug when I see him or if I respond sarcastically to a joke. I’d say it’s a mix of him being a little high maintenance and me not being able to let my guard down.

I know if my friend came to me asking for advice, Id say “move on”, but I personally can’t move on.  Last time he was here me made a few remarks like “you don’t even love me tho”…when we were joking around about something. He also said I act too laid back, like I don’t want anything more. ….Im totally clueless, I wasn’t sure if I should want anything more, didn’t think it was an option as he doesn’t live here.

I again made him mad…..he always makes this joke about getting married for a visa. This time I responded by saying “lovely, marry someone for a piece of paper” and then I just got one word answers after that and we haven’t spoke in over a month. This was via whatsapp, but he makes this joke everything time I see him when he comes to Mexico…along with “do you ever want to have babies?” and “who was the last person you  slept with?”…..every single time he visits. What kind of advice would you give to a friend? contact him or should the ball be in his court?

I would leave the ball in his court.... you need to do what’s best for you. He seems like he wants quite serious answers straight away and I think you should maybe think about what you want from him.
