This reminds me of the time when my husband was sent to London for a 4-month work assignment. Take note that there was no internet yet in 1988 and the only communication system that were available were the phone and the postal mail. Since the overseas call was very expensive, we had to be frugal with that. And our recourse was the postal mail. We were exchanging letters at least 2 times a week. And since the turnaround time is 2 weeks at the quickest, what I receive today was the reply to my letter that I sent 2 weeks ago. To avoid confusion, we numbered our letters and the reply indicated the number. It was a very laborious way of communication that's why the young people of today are very fortunate with the facilities of the internet. And it's not only email but also chat and video chat as well. I couldn't imagine then that a video call will be possible. Anyway, the lesson learned from my experience is to be very active with communication when you have a long distance relationship so the fire of love will not wane.
