I was invited to a friends birthday lunch and I knew my ex (fling) would be there. I arrived late, started saying hi's to the people I know, saw his back far away in the room, felt confident, I was prepared, I had thought meeting him then was a possibility and I would be mature and adult about it. Since most people had already chosen their seats I went to a table that looked to have free seats, took an empty chair. no one took the seat in front of mine. I noticed a woman seating next to the empty chair in front of me. I started talking to the people at my table, lunch starts and only then I notice the person seating to my left. There he was my ex and the woman that caught my attention was his gf. What an awkward moment! My eyes meet his, no way to run I say "Hi there you", no more conversation. It was sooo hard to spend the whole meal next to them. Dont take me wrong - I know he was not the man I wanted then and now - but it was just hard to be there and see the two of them together and I had (in a group of 50odd people) the only empty chair of the room right in front of me.
What I learned with this situation? Does not matter how good you look G, you also need to get to places early enough so that you can choose your seats better! Next time!

Oh god, that does sound awkward. Lol! No damage done though, you just need to arrive a little earlier next time to get a better seat.
