My boyfriend has issues with forgetting to do things like call me when we've set a time. He used to walk me home from work often and every other time he would have something come up in his schedule and not tell me. We actually live together so I would have to walk back to our house alone and he wouldn't be there and I would worry about his safety but really I would know that he just didn't think to tell me.

When things like that happen he often feels guilty and will refuse to make specific plans so that he can't break them. That wouldn't be so bad except he breaks vague plans too and will just not be home all day and never call.

I think he feels guilty when this makes me sad and then he starts purposefully ignoring my calls/texts because he feels guilty and doesn't what to deal with it.

So basically, everytime he accidentally forgets to call, he then purposefully ignores me because he feels too guilty to talk to me.

What should I do? I feel like if something serious happens in my life I can't rely on him for comfort because he can't deal with difficult situations?
