So, long story short, I love my best friend, I'm pretty sure she doesn't in that way. Don't get me wrong, I adore this, but anyway, yesterday out of nothing she said "Someone asked me today if we were dating. Crazy right? You're my best friend", what should I reply? Should I say the truth now?

Noted, I understand she said she liked me as a friend there, but still, should I declare myself?

You have two options here. I've gone through the exact same situation, and it sorta paid off, but cause a tonne of sleepless nights and a lot of crying, I'm a guy.

1. Don't say anything. If you know her well and you aren't getting any signals back, going full blown and telling her exactly how you feel can put a wedge between you two especially if she doesn't feel the same. I guarantee if you're good friends she won't look into it too much, but it might just do a bit of damage for you.

2. My advice. Don't do number 1. I waited too late to say how I felt. She felt the same, but waited for me to show how I felt. I didn't until it was too late, and hence why I'm here. You've only got so long here, and you've only got a few chances with her. Don't say everything but letting her know you like her can open up so much. The risk outweighs the reward. If it goes wrong, which it did for me first, over time she began to see me the same way, but I was bad timing. If she doesn't see you like that, maybe you'll be hurt for a bit, but you'll move on and be friends again. Go for it.

Just one more thing, don't misuse the word love. I don't know what you're thinking but this might help.

Good luck

Hi bojuca2,

She referred to the idea of you dating as crazy. That's all you need to know. She is nowhere near in the same place you are and if you tell her the truth chances are you will lose your best friend.

I recommend you take some time apart from her because this friendship is hindering your future. As long as she is around, you will always love her and not look at anyone else. This isn't healthy. You need to be your own person and meet new people.

I also have a question if you don't mind me asking. You've made 6 posts in the past four months all about how you love this girl.

In my personal opinion I can't see anywhere that indicates she feels the same. My question is are you just going to spend the rest of your life single, secretly loving her and writing multiple posts about it?
