Second semester is coming and I’m thinking about shifting to another course of study. When I told my parents about my decision, my mom talked to me in private and encouraged me to study Engineering! The thing is, I don’t like it! I hate Engineering to the point of almost failing my Math subject last semester! Since grade school, all I ever wanted was to be a good novelist, that means being a famous writer, contributing articles in newspapers, international dating blogs, magazines, or even in popular periodicals existing today. It just didn’t happen when my father forced me to study tourism. I hate it when my parents decide which path should I go to. I need to decide for myself. I need help. What should I do?

It's really important that you pursue something that you enjoy doing, I am 23 and have been working full-time doing something I absolutely love, for the past 3 years.

You wouldn't want to ever pursue a career you don't like, just because your parents wanted you to do that.

You need to reassure them that you can still be successful in another profession that you enjoy more.
