What is your take on guys with close female friends?? can it be innocent?

They dated in high school, she was his first, they used to go to dinner before he met me, and they still call and text. He'll share every single convo with me that he has with everyone in his life, except hers until I ask. Then he brings it up. How annoying is that?!
The only thing I told him when I found how close they are, is to just be open and communicate their convos with me, like he does with everyone else. If it's a normal friendship, why would he hide it if he doesnt with his guy buds?

we're new, and we've had a convo about it, a calm one, where I said I need openness or i will just naturally feel like he's hiding something. I know I don't want that. I want a solid relationship that offers openness and communication. He said OK. Yet again, he gets weird when he shares that they talked.

does this sound like I should feel concerned?

my opinion is that in no way can I have female friend relationship without having rules. To be Just friend but feeling of one another can lead being more than just friends. I have failed a numbers of times. Good Luck
